What is going on with my computer?

Hey guys,

I've had this problem a few times now, and every time i've had to format.

What happens is after like a few months of running perfect, all of the sudden, after a restart, i will get into windows, and try to load like InternetExplorer, or My Computer and it just wont respond, when i click on IE, the hdd light blinks for activity and then it just doens't pop up for like 4-5minutes. When I click on My Computer, it thing will come up but wont respond for the same ammount of time.

I have did a virus scan and spyware nothing found.

Any Ideas?
 
I've seen that happen on some people's Centrino laptop, but I don't know what caused it. I just used system restore to set them to a week before it slowed down, and they seemed to work fine after that.
