What is the definition of an extreme cooling solution?

Vapor Phase Change or Thermoelectric Cooling (TEC) or Chilled Water Cooling or Liquid Nitrogen.

You mean, air cooling can't be extreme?

it can be extreme in its implemintation, but in this forum Extreme is usually used for how cold you can get the components in the pc.

Sub-ambient cooling would be a decent definition. No way you're getting there with normal air or water, no matter how many fans you've got going. And no, adding a bunch of Tornado fans isn't "extreme", just questionable.

That's how I always felt about it. Phase, TEC, and immersion. I've seen alot of these "Extreme Air Cooling" threads recently, though.

Maybe we need a FAQ up in here...

The dictionary says...

extreme cooling:
infers either sub-ambient cooling, or an extremely unorthodox method of cooling such as submersion
