Im sure this topic has been posted before, but I cant find it.

OK this question has been driving me mad, its really basic, but I cant get an answer.

What is Allendale?

Simple answer: "Conroe with half the cache". Im sure thats what the people who read the subject, but not the post, will give me.

but i want more then that. I did a fair chunk of digging.

basic logic implys an allendale is the E6300 and E6400, its a Conroe, with half the cache, right?

Well, Wikipedia, and The Tech Report, are saying that an allendale is actually a core that is not a member of the E6X00 family.

Well sometimes thats not true: Toledo and Manchester. Although windsor, seems to be following the Pattern. The AMD AM2 X2 4000+, 4400+, 4800+, and 5200+ made quiet entrances, and are still available in some shops and all claim to be windsors. the FX 62 claims to be a Windsor, but it has a full L2 cache.

The do not Cite the source of this info.

However Wiki does state that there will be a processer released, code named allendale, and named E4300, and E4400.

I have found web sites also stating there will be an E4400 and E4300, I cannot however resolve my Allendale identity Issue with those sites.

Can someone help me out? do not post speculation, if your interested, give this thread a bump, its gonna need it. Posted at 3:10AM
 
The E6300 and E6400 are Conroes with half the cache disabled; sometime in H1 07 Intel will release updated, cheaper versions without any cache disabled. That shows that they are Conroes, because they have the same cache, just disabled. The E4300 and E4400 are/will be the true Allendales, with 2MB natively (btw, they should OC extremely well and I'm looking forward to them).
 
well according to cpu z then I currently just picked up an Allendale then.

So just because cpuz says it you think its true? lol, no you have a conroe.
 
What version of cpu-z do you have? On 1.37 (for me) it said allendale for my e6400, then when I downloaded 1.38, it said Conroe, meaning it was an error on their part :p.
