I heard that 3dfx was a crap no-name company that produces them and nvidia bought them out are they good cards I heard somebody say a voodoo 5500 <----- I think that was the name was a really good card and could run doom 3 better than anything PLZ give details

3DFX wasn't a crap no name company. A few years back, they were the premier video card chipset makers. They were eventually bought out by nvidia.

I doubt anything carrying the name "voodoo" could even run doom 3. Not because 3DFX sucks, but because their technology is far too old

Wow.

Voodoo1 was the first "real" 3d card. Voodoo2 was the best 3d card ever made, imho. Voodoo3 was ok, Nvidia came out with the TNT2 at the same time. After a few driver upgrades the TNT2 Ultra took the speed crown from the Voodoo 3500 while offering 32 bit color(3500 didn't).

Then 3DFX tanked, couldn't keep up with Nvidia's release schedule and the Geforce was the first and final nail in 3DFX's coffin.

Feel free to correct me.

O i was just wondering I have never really knew that mouch about them thnxs for the "jepordy info" <------ good to have but most of the time useless
