I am looking for opinions on a vid card upgrade. I am currently running an Abit NF7-S with an XP mobile running at 2.2ghz and 512mb PC3200. My current vid card is an MSI TI4400. I am looking to upgrade but for not too much cash (under $150). I have been looking at the ATI 9600 and the FX5700 cards. ANy advice? I will be buying from newegg....

What does the "XP mobile" mean? Is this a laptop?

If it is that is going to limit you.

The 6600 GT is a great card for your desktop system. It is a member of the current video card generation and it out performs the 9800 Pro by a large margin.

The AGP 6600 GT starts at $209.99 on Pricewatch and the PCI Express version starts at $179.99.

You wont see any preformance difference going to a 9600 or 5700. Get at least a 9800pro (used for $150) or save for a 6600GT AGP.

And xp mobile are processor designed for laptops but they work in desktops. They operate at lower voltages, lower temps and fully unlocked multipliers, which makes them excellent overclockers. I have one myself and it can go to 2.4 stable, havent tried any higher but I will soon.
