What is a "Dead Thread"

I sometimes see threads being locked with Dead Thread instead of Closed (or whatever the other option for it is called).

What does it mean?
 
I think that they make the thread "dead" after it has been inactive for awhile, or if whatever the initial problem was or topic has been resolved and there is no need to keep it open.
 
It is a thread that was closed by a Mod or Admin (or in some cases GenMay members who can close their own threads) and "Dead Thread" is the system default message.
