what is 4/8/16 chips SDRAM?

i saw in the price list the price are different
what's the different in the performance
how to identify weather the ram is what how many chips?
i have a SDRAM i don't know which chips to count so i just count the few bigger chips and have 9chips on 1 side. Both sides come to 18 chips izzit? thanks.

there r 3 type of sdram available in market

1) SDRAM 4 chips
2) SDRAM 8 chips
3) SDRAM 16 chips

1)how to identify those sdram in which category by looking at the ram itself?
2)what's the different among those?

....all bets are off if you have parity bits (ECC) on the module.

Use some logic and you can probably figure it out (memory....logic.....nice.... ) You say you have a module with nine chips on a side? Well, you know there is a 16 chip module, so I'd bet you have "16" chip module with the two other chips handling the parity. As such, you also more than likely have ECC ram.
