Ok, been having some major problems with the rig lately. It's really old, as you can tell by the sig, however I'm in the process of putting a new one together however I still wanted to turn the old one into a Win9x box for old-school Sierra Games. Anyway, heres whats going on. Sometimes when I turn it on, the power and HD LED's come on, however the HD LED will just stay constantly lit, and the computer won't post or boot. If I reset the bios, it may just still do that again next time I boot, OR the HD LED will go off, but there still is no beep like it's posting and the monitor is getting no image. Then sometimes, it will boot just fine, but mostly it just won't post, system is not overclocked at all anymore. Any ideas?

Chip creep?

I would try re-seating everything and see if that solves the problem.

When was the last time you cleaned your box? Hit it with some air and get everything nice and clean.

Are all of your fans in good shape? Your proc fan may be dying and having trouble spinning up some of the time causing the post to halt.

Your HD or Ram may be failing during hardware detection. Run Memtest and the manufacturers HD utility to test them out.

Could be your CMOS battery is dying. You may want to slap a new one in there and see if that solves the problem.
