Does it mean something about the power supply, when you can turn the power on and boot up your system, but you can't turn the power off no matter how long you hold down the power button.

Thanks for any advice. :)

Not really, I'd more expect that to be Mobo. The mobo should be opening and closing the PW_ON loop. If it will close it, but not open it, then its something wrong on the mobo.

or the power button itself, you shorted the actual mobo pins for 4 sec yet?

Thanks everyone, no I didn't even know about shorting 4 pins on mobo. Maybe we are making progress. hmmm

hold on, 2 pins

read your manual, identify the pins attached to the power button, unplug it and carefully short them with a metal object

report back

So you're talking about the long thin wires that run from the power button to the mobo pinout? If so, how do properly short them out?

Thanks again.

Pull the wires off of the pinout, taking note of which ones are for the power button. Consult your motherboard manual if necessary, you don't want to short out the wrong ones by mistake (particularly the ones for the case lights). You want to short out the two pins that are for the power button.

You can short them with a screw driver.. Or a paper clip.. Hell even a key. Short the pins for 4 seconds and it should perform whats known as a hard shut down.
