what HSF will work on a socket 7 ???

i am fixing someone's computer.. amd k6 233.. and the fan on the cpu is dying... can i put a $5 socket a speeze on it? socket A and socket 7 appear to use the same clips to attach a hsf.. will it work?
 
I have an old socket 7 laying around... Lemme check if it will fit


Edit: It looks like it should fit fine, but I have a capacitor right next to the ZIF socket (and when I say right next to it, i mean touching the socket)

As long as you have room around the socket and it clamps down firmly, go for it
 
I just installed a Socket A heatsink on a K6 400 MHz. Worked like a charm! Just make sure there are no capacitors in the way. Now let's see if I can hit 450 MHz! :D
 
ok.. thanks... i will keep that in mind if that fan keeps acting the way it does...
maybe i can tell the guy to drop $15 on a k6-500 and $10 on a fan.. and double his speed...


ot: juniormlc, where in NW indiana? i know a lot of people in lakes of the four seasons.. and the crown point area..

I grew up around Lakes of the Four Seasons! Now I live in Valparaiso.
