I need to know what heater core this is --> here . IIRC it is a chevelle one, but i don't know the auto part name or number for it. This is the same design as the '77 boniville heater core that weapon and 2fresh sell, but obviously it is about sized for a single 120mm fan rather then 2.

looking to just pick one up locally at auto store, thx for your help.

P.S. I searched, couldn't find the info i needed..........

‘84 Chevrolet Chevette heatercore, beware that it has 3/4" barbs

thx! BTW, do you know if these barbs (3/4" you say) are the same size as the '77 boniville/weapon/2fresh cores? thx again......

I thought the typical 120mm autoparts rad was an '86 Chevette core...or perhaps the '84 and '86 have the same heater core, wouldn't surprise me.

iirc, no its not the same and you are going to have to cut the barbs and attach your own ;)

I'm pretty sure there's a difference between 2Fresh's cores and a 77 bonneville. The 2fresh core can fit in a 51/4" bay... the 77' bonneville core I got from dangerden did not.

there are a couple of small differences depending on version, such as with AC or w/o. The bonny HC do indeed fit in a 5 1/4 bay, i have done it. It was the version w/o AC i believe.

As topcat was saying, there is one that fits and another that doesn't. I have both and I believe the non-ac one first in the 5 1/4" bay. Note that it takes up like 7 or 8 bays.

Do they just name these radiators after car heater cores or can I actually go down to NAPA and order one for a 1977 Bonneville?

Which one fits in a drive bay and uses a standard barb size?

yep, sure can

you will have to mod a raw core (VERY easy to do) or buy it pre-modded from danger den or dtek.

The 77 Boneville heatercore is God's gift to watercooling. Even the pre-modded ones from people like 2Fresh are cheaper than most purpose-built ones from various watercooling companies, and perform a lot better.

Be sure to get the '77 Bonneville with a/c so you can fit 2 x 120mm fans on it.

Hold on a minute...
Define how you want the heatercore to fit the drive bay. Do you want it lying horizontally or vertically.

Either way, the difference between the w/o AC and AC version is that the w/o AC is wider while the AC version is longer.

Horizontally would be preferred.

Would be going into a Lian Li V1000.

i actually aggree with you on a WC subject. wonders never cease :p

these rads (bonny HC) are so effecient i don't have fans on them. I just put them in the top of my case, and have all my fans (few and low CFM quiet ones) as intakes, and so the air exhuast through the rad at the top of the case. Very quiet, and even the the rad is getting low CFM, and that air is heated, it still cools handidly.

I don't see the point of buying BIX this or thermochill that, when these HC kicks all kinds of ass.

I use with a/c and it fits no problem.
I don't use it there, but it will slide right in there.

Any confirmation on the exact version I need (Ac or no AC)?

From what I'm reading it looks like the AC version is it?
