i just got those zalman surround headphones and so far so good :)

what do you guys use?
 
Sony MDR-V600's. Before anyone goes on about how they suck, I got them super cheap. $ to sound ratio was definately worth it.
 
Sennheiser HD477, they're not bad. I wish I had've got the HD497 but I'll live. The bass isn't bad.
 
Sennheiser HD570's. They have a excellent soundstage, and are great for gaming. They are very mediocre with music though. Thats why im also getting a pair of 580's.

Just go em. They sound very good and are extremely comfortable. Not terribly expensive either albiet not super cheap.

BTW: Great set of headphones if you don't need an AMP. If you have an AMP get senn's.

A good set of SR-60's or 80's is all you need.

I use HD650's for the comp, together with a Gilmore V2 amp http://www.headamp.com/dynamic.shtml

For portable, I use a pair of HD570's. I've found that the impedence between the two cans is about the same, IE, I get the same volume out of the cd player, regardless which cans I use. However, I'm not going to take my 450$ headphones outside into the snow and rain.

Also, my bro is snagging a pair of HD580's, so I'll see what those are like.

Sennheiser = good!

Audiophase MD-04....if anyone can tell me what the hell these are and how they compare to higher end headphones i'd be grateful to know hehe. All I know is that they're not the best sounding, but they give a pretty good bang for the ~$30 bucks I paid for em like 4-5 years ago. Have been thinking of upgrading do sennheisers though.

labled under ministry of sound but i dont listen to even a note of techno

damn good over-ear closed headphones, with them on your head and no music playing you are stone deaf (no outside noise gets in)

this also works the other way around, when you are listening to really loud music no one else can hear them either (unlike stinky leaky ass earbuds )

great headphones i would recommend any of the higher end ixos or sennheiser headphones

My current headphone inventory includes:
Sennheiser PX200s, HD497s, HD280 Pro's, HD580s with a clou red jaspis cable, HD600s with an Equinox cable, Koss KCS35s, and an ancient pair of Koss Hv1LC's.
Don't even ask about headphone amp's. ;)

Indeed. One nice thing about Grado headphones is that they are all 32Ohm so you can use them on pretty much anything. However, if you do have an amp, they get that much better. They crave to have a lot of current fed to them. Eventually I will get an amp for mine [I just use them either straight out of the mobo or thru my Klipsch speakers] but it probably wont be until I get a pair of the RS1 which wont be for a while.

I had hooked these up to my brothers HT system [Sherwood Newcastle components] and the sound from Floyd's Signs of Life was incredible. I should test them out with his record player since it is a lot better quality than a CD is.

Anyhoo.. The only advice I have at the moment is to make sure you demo a pair of Grado if you want one. They are not for everyone due to their somewhat "clamping" nature. A little bending of the headband can solve some of it. Make sure you demo especially when you are spending a lot of money.
 
I'm using Sennhesier HD500's probably should've got the 570's but too late now, and they sound good anyway
 
Grado SR-60s, Sennheiser MX500s, and a Meta Mint amp, which will be sold pretty soon. Looking to get either the new Sennheiser HD595 or the Beyerdynamic DT440 after getting some cash.

I'm using a pair of black Sony headphones. My dad tells me they're about 12 years old... but they kick ass :D

I took a headset microphone thing that didnt have speakers and taped it onto my headphones. Ghetto but it rocks.

Also, can anyone suggest the best headset for gaming?
 
Stax SR-40, I found them at a yard sale for $4 but they needed work.

I replaced the headache causing worn out headband with one from a pair of Phillips HB550.

I used vinyl paint to make it all look like it belongs together.

The original wire was corroded and broken off flush with the transducer on the right side so I had to hammer in pins to the stators and soldered new wire to the pins, now they are back in working order.

Now I have less hard drive space since anything less than lossless is noticeable. They sound pretty good for the transducers in them being 25 years old.

Yeah.. I heard those are nice too. Grado basically helped to make them.

The sound quality is well worth the possible discomfort.
 
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro for PC use. For deep bass wallop off the Richter scale, accept no substitutes.

Upgraded from SennHD497s, which were good, but sound anaemic next to the 770s.
 
On the comp I use a Audio-Technica A900 or a Senn HD590/Equinox cable.

On my amp I use either the Senn hd580, DT770 or Grado SR125. Though sometimes I'll get the ER-4p from the Zen and connect it to the amp for the sheer amount of detail they allow to pass through.
