I have windows 7 pro 64 bit and my pc was running great for months and months, last week a couple times my internet would be really slow, but now it does it all the time, firefox will take 20 minutes to load a page, things download at like 10kbps...updated network adapter driver, ran spyware blaster, virus scan. What is going on? Nothing has really changed...

edit: im wired, 3 other pcs on network no problems.

Are you running McAffee DLP?

Had a simmilar issue with one of my production file servers a little while ago...
 
Try a minimal configuration without router/etc first, then try various speed tests. Maybe you can make sure nothing is unusual in the Resource Monitor.
 
Yeah 3 other pc's on the network run fine, the network shows full connectivity, i've tried swaping ports on the router. Nothing real funny on my resource monitor, mobo is a ASUS P8Z68-V if that helps.

I thought it was spyware or malware but spybot got nothing...Any thing else?

If I can't find the problem tonight i'm just going to reinstall...

Oh and the worst part is it does this intermittently, for awhile the internet will be fine, then...not.
 
Run several different anti malware programs like malwarebytes, superantispyware, tdsskiller. Todays malware, need a good "shotgun approach".

Also could be a hardware issue...sudden extreme slowness or even sporadic slowness is classic behavior of a failing hard drive.
 
Nothin came up with malware or anything for any of those, I uninstalled a couple things, see what happens, but for now it is running fine...
 
run a performance monitor - see if it's something chewing up your CPU, RAM, Hard Drive, etc.
 
OK, scratch that, installed everything, all my main programs and drivers, was working great, installed origin and bf3, played a round, internet was still great, exited bf3, went and took a shower, came back and alas, its back to slow internet city...WTH?

sounds hardware related, start with a mem test, then cpu test then hard drive test....

specs of system ? board ram cpu built or bought ? SSD drive or hdd ? Video card type brand model ? Version of windows ?
 
Ran all tests, no errors, i have no clue...

16gb ram
128gb crucial m4 ssd main drive
evga gtx570
windows 7 pro
 
Seems to be working alright for now, i will definitely try that next if it starts happening again.
 
Not to be a smart a$$, but an ssd would make just the internet slow to a halt, but everything else runs fine?

Its been working pretty good, when it does start acting up, i turnon turnoff the modem, starts to work, which is odd...because again none of the other pc's on my network had any problems.
