What gpu can i use with an Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z

I have this micro atx Asus Maximus GeneZ mobo with an i5 2500k and a GTX 460

Currently this gpu is giving me problems with some games. I realize it's pretty old so I'm hoping someone can recommend a gpu for it so i can play some of the newer games.My budget is around $300

Ps. I would look up some reviews but it's been such a long time since i built a computer i dont know what it's compatible with XD

Most anything recent is still compatible with that board.

RTX 2060 is about 350$
GTX 1060 is about 250$ but trades blows with the RX 580.
RX 580 for about 200$

If you want to go the used route, you'll find higher end cards for cheaper.

I've got that same MB in a "retired" gaming PC... It's a older but stout board. Slots on it are PCIe 2.0 but it's backwards compatible. You could plug a 2080 into it would work just fine, if it burst into flames it wouldn't be because of your CPU/MB.

Previous poster (mda) is spot on, I'd go with the 1060 but I lean towards NV as personal preference.
