What are good external hds to use for back up purposes? I been using Western Digital Elements drives and they work but looking for a second brand for another backup as I remember awhile back I was using a couple of maxtors and they both died at the same time Good thing I was just making a backup at the time.

F4s are definitely not hot. These are 5400 RPM drives. They are the coolest drives I own. I and being that I have 200+ drives between home and work I have quite a few different drives..
