ok, i know that this is my cs server... but what exactly and how does it run? is it like 2 seperate systems, or like 2 systems integrated into one? i didnt really know where to post this so i hope im in the right forum.

a mess :p

to me it looks like two computers in one case... it doesnt look as if they are connected to each other directly... but i dont know much about servers so i may be completely wrong

um...well honestly I'm not sure what to think of that. It appears to be two (sloppily) built computers. They're certainly separate computers, just both in one case.

but it looks ridiculously ghetto rigged and I can't even tell what some of it is. also, it seems to be missing some stuff...like power supplies (though I see some power supply-ish things in there...hard to tell). Most of that stuff isn't even fastened down...

where did you get that thing from?

Wow.
I don't think I've seen a shittier hackjob in years. And that's really saying something. Seriously.
It's two shitty desktop PCs shoehorned into one case, with drives mounted improperly and inadequate cooling. Amazed it's even alive. Probably Durons in there, to boot. Whoever sold you that needs to get a nice phone call from the lawyer talking about fraud. I mean seriously, that's not even a rackmount. That's a pile of trash thrown in a box that just happens to fit in a 19" rack.

no no, its not MINE mine, i mean supposedly it runs the cs:s server for our clan (not at my house) our clan leader i guess put that together, and posted it up on our sites forums. i wasnt sure what to think of it though.

Tell him he REALLY needs to be taught how to build a server...

The fact that it sounds like it runs consistently makes me think he may actually know what he's doing, even if it is a hack job.

Well, one thing you have to give it is it's pretty good density. Two computers in one case that looks like it's only a few U's high isn't too bad.

The op doesn't know this for sure - the guy just posted these pics claiming they were the clan's server. Pretty impressive given the lack of a psu, if you ask me :p

Actually, it does have a PSU, but not exactly a normal one. Its using those kits that you can use to power a mini ITX board off of a 12 volt DC adapter.

Interesting, where do you see it in the pic?

top side of hte picture, near the middle, there's the black fan, and silver cable. Right next to the cable is the power supply cable. The PS is that small rectangle it's attached to. I've seen those a couple of times. You just need to supply them whith a clean DC voltage.

I wasnt saying that system wont work, its just put together pretty slobby and just looks terrible, and yes theres a psu in there.

Actually, their are 2, one for each board. The one is connected via an ATX extension cable (the one you pointed out), the other is connected directly the the ATX connector on the left motherboard (it also has the 4 pin power cable coming off of it).

I agree, it looks like crap.

this brings back awesome memories. I used to have a CS server, ran on a hacked up emachine, 400 Mhz celeron, windows 2000...it was basically in some old AT case, with a POS 14" CRT on the floor...I used to have fun with that.

so this begs the question...why are there two systems in that one case?

haha

probably getting around paying to have two boxes co-located somewhere

now that thing is funny.. 2 systems and it looks like a small hub or switch laying ontop of the PCI slots on the one board. I do like the small PSU setups, I might have to look into those.
