Ok, what exactly is RAID? Can someone please provide me with an explanation? I know it's something to do with hd, and the motherboard must also support it for it to work (does the Asus P4P800 Deluxe come with RAID?).
 
Yes, the P4P800 comes with RAID functions. Definitely read up on RAID before trying it. There are a lot of myths surrounding RAID, and more importantly, there is a very real risk of data loss if you don't make wise decisions.

After reading about RAID, come back and we can make some recommendations for you.

RAID is primarilly a way to add redundancy to your data
or performance (or in the case of RAID 0+1, both)

no single HDD can saturate its interface
be it ATA 100 (100MB/s) SATA (150MB/s)
SCSI U160 or U320 (160 & 320MB/s)
by employing a RAID array in one of the performance levels,
its possible to get closer to this bandwidth potential
(also limited by the PCI Slot, a typical slot being limited to 132MB/s)

Some Raid (Zero for example) Is NOT Redundant................
