I am sorry.. I have not been following the intel celeron scene forever..

I am wonder.. how is that comparable in speed wise to a p4 or amd64?

and is the D stands for dualcore? or no?

oh and I overclocked it on air to 3.7ghz how fast is that in terms of amd or p4?

No, they're not dual-core. The name is kinda deceptive...though they started calling them celeron D's long before the pentium D's came out.

As to how well them compare to P4's and A64's I'm not exactly sure, but I do know that the prescott-based celeron's (the celeron D's like you mentioned) perform MUCH better than the old northwood-based ones. They overclock very well too.

sorry to dig up an old thread but.. I overclocked the heck out of my celeron d to about 3.8ghz.. my goodness.. it spanked most of the cpus from sandra benchmark program..

Yeah, I knew when it mentioned that they are Prescott-based, they should be pretty powerful. Theyre just cache-deprived versions of their big-brothers. Should do fine for office-related things and theyre probably not bad for gamers. Ive seen people get up past 4 GHz on air with these, kind of a disappointment that theyre not dual core, the D really is decieving.
