What exactly happens when Arctic silver "cures'?

Hey guys, I just upgraded my motherboard / ram / HSF today and was surprised to see my idle CPU temp jumpr from 28C to 44C. I am now running an Abit IC7-G with a gig of corsair XMS and a Thermaltake Spark-7 HSF. I used arctic silver 5 (smoothed it out with a razor, I used basicaly as little as possible to cover the whole cpu, i wasn;t able to cover a small part of the CPU where there was a hole (came like that) in one corner.

I am just wondering, what happens when the as5 cures? Will that really make my CPU temp drop that muuch? MBM says my case is at 25C and the CPU is at 45C, that just doesn't seem right to me.

Temperature seems right on the mark to me, but I'm an Athlon user. My 64 3200+ idles at 48C with a Thermaltake 12 Venus.

AS5 has been none to take up to 100 hours for it to "burn in"

Crazy tisnt it?

well, technically (unless someone corrects me) it will "liquify" when it's buring in, filling all the microscopics cracks and whatnot, giving you a neear perfect heat transfer surface.
