Ive been having a little trouble using any Forceware higher than 66.93. Anything higher just really screws up my desktop and icons but games are fine.

I know that a higher updated driver will most likely improve my performance so I want to get a poll of other users of the same exact card to see what driver they are running successfully. Im just afraid that it might be a defective card that wont take future driver updates then I will really be screwed. AT least now I still have a chance to exchange since I bought it from Best Buy.

i'm using 67.03 for now with my 6800gt. i've tried 66.93, 71.84, and several others but they all seem to get this one problem while playing wc3. so i've been switching to see if it'll help. i've also noticed anything lower than 61.77 or around there IQ isnt great and some ingame problems for like hl2.

so everything i've tried 67++ and up i have not had a problem with games and desktop other then wc3 or it could be a heat related issue w/ the videocard. still need further testing.

I have had the same problem with the newest drivers. Everything looks retarded !! I asked BFG and they dont know anyhting about it :(

I also called BFG and they said that 66.93 works best with this particular card but I want to be able to do forceware updates in the future instead of being limited to 66.93.

So are there any other BFG 6800 OC users that have succeeded in using anything higher than 66.93? I ask because if so, then I will exchange this card for a different one. Thanks

Just thought I'd chime in. I am currently using the 71.84 Forceware drivers and my system has never been better. I play mostly HL2/CS:S, America's Army, and Fry Cry and everything is fine. The card overclocks to 354/770 and runs all day long at these settings (tested drivers a few nights back).

My system:
AMD Athlon64 3000+ @ ~2.25Ghz
Asus A8V Deluxe @ 250Mhz
1GB HyperX Ram @ 400Mhz
BFG 6800OC @ 354Mhz/770Mhz
various other cards...
WindowsXP SP2
Nvidia Forceware 71.84

note: maybe it's the refresh rate thats messing up the desktop? sounds like a problem i had when I started using the newer drivers with my older GeForce4 video card.

Wow, thats really weird. I have a BFG 6800 GT OC and whenver I try to use the 71.84 drivers I get this really weird freezing in games. At first, it was just IL2. It would randomly freeze for about 2-3 seconds at a time, but all other games worked fine. I reloaded my install of Windows XP Pro, and IL-2 works fine now, but AA:O is having the same problem IL-2 was having before...WTF?

with 71.84 and the overclock you are doing, what are your 3dmark scores?

Current;y using the 71.84 version and my BFG 6800 GT OC without a problem.

I installed my BFG 6800 oc last week as well. I'm currently using 66.97s. I also cannot get a set higher to work either. I'm a bit perplexed. On 66.97 it gets sticky as well. I'm not happy. Help  Like most everyone else I got this card for Doom 3

Another vote for the 71.84s.

Benched them next to the XG76.10s & gained 2fps in CS:s Stress Test with nVidia's WHQL offering.

I originally used the 67.03s and never had any issues. Just went to the 71.84s right when they were released as official and they have been perfect also. Just played through HL2 quite a bit and all the way through Riddick without any issues.

I just got this card yesterday, I noticed the 10 degree jump in temp using the 71.84 so I reverted back to 66.93. But I had no problems running anything with the 71.84 asides from the temps. Can anyone suggest a good aftermarket cooler for the BFG 6800GT OC as the stock cooler bites!!

Personally I use the latest 76.41 drivers from guru3d. I find that these work the best; my IQ stayed the same and my FPS rose a few points, and AQ3 wen't up ~1000 pts or so on my card stock.

71.84 here without issues... but I am running 79c idle in windows with this driver... is that normal? I have great case cooling.

the temperature jumps ARE NOT REAL. Its just reporting the WRONG number. The driver doesn't make your card get super hot.. it reads about 20 degrees hotter than it actually is.

75.90 and 76.41 has freaking sound pops for me..gay 71.84 best for me
