I just got this 3.2 prescott and it's been running very hot 55-58 idle and up to 70 under load while playing far cry or doom3. I have had lockups usually within the first 5 to 10 minutes playing doom. My vid card seems to be running normal temps... around 60, which as far as I can tell from reading other posts is normal.

Well anyway, my case temp is running in the low 30s and does not go up but maybe 2 degrees when my cpu is under load. I start up doom 3 and get this when it switches from the loading screen to the game itself:

Ok, I'm choking while I type this, but could it be the vid card? Or can it be a proc problem? I know alot of people have their running in the low 60s or in the 50s under load. I've tried the HSF below and the stock is on right now and it has made no diff. I'm wondering for you folks who don't frequent the intel boards what this could be. CPU or *gulp* video card?

BTW, I have the settings in doom at 1024X769 at ultra high quality. AA is at 4 I beleive.

Refresh rate problem? Check your monitor's refresh rates and if you have to, use the Nvidia driver to force the display into the lowest (60 Hz usually) refresh rate at that resolution, see if that solves anything. That's the only time I've gotten a screen like that, when I was exceeding my monitor's capabilities.

Just in case you can't see the link, it is a bunch of white and blue horizantal lines on a black background.

also, did i meantion it froze? Not just a funky screen, but I had to manually reboot my system.
