I'm not actually talking about the equipment to make an actual component but in terms of learning how to design a physical product such as all parts in a computer and peripherals. Whenever I think of computer engineer, I think of programmers or possibly my thought process is off?

Essentially, if you wanted to work on a team to develop cutting edge technology, what would you major in college?

Computer Science and Electrical Engineering

AKA Computer Engineering, AKA Electrical And Computer Engineering (ECE).

It's the most flexible major you can get, and let's you easily transition between software and hardware, which is where you need to be in order to design a SYSTEM.

Man, is a Computer Science degree needed for everything now a days? Electrical Engineering sounds tough.

It most definitely is! I'm not the greatest at math and I had to fight for every A (graduated with a 2.9), but it was worth the effort. It feels good to challenge yourself and the accomplishment sets you up for even bigger things!

I studied Econ instead of CSEE. Mistake.
