what do you think will be faster?

The 3.4e oc to 4 should be faster. If you have good water cooling and I mean good WATER cooling no air.

Add about 400Mhz to an EE chip to find it's "equivalent" speed standard P4. I.e. You have a 3.4EE? That would be about a 3.8C on most benchmarks. Probably closer to a 3.9E then since the Prescott doesn't have the efficiency of the Northwood. OC the hell out of the EE and get yourself a speed machine!

i see, so why would the P4 at 4GHz be faster? the EE has 2MB L2 Cache.

The EE is NOT a prescott core, so there isn't a good a chance you'll get to 4ghz (or any high OC).

The EE is not known for being the OC demon that the prescott is

OK, I can't take it anymore. Let me clear something up. Just because the Prescott is a HIGHER OC'er doesn't mean it's any faster at an equivalent speed when being compared to the Northwood core or the Gallatin core (EE). Here is an analogy. Yes, a inline 4-cylinder Honda engine can rev to over 7K RPM but it still doesn't make more power than a big block Chevy V8 that only revs to 5K RPM. Same deal. This is why the AMD guys think you're all dumb. It doesn't matter the OC you get with your Prescott. A "slower" Northwood will kick it's ass. The trade off for pure GHz for clock efficiency gains the Prescott NOTHING. Actually, it hurts performance. When will you all realize this? The Prescott is a stepping pad for the next generation chips (or at least WAS going to be)....

Well, more later. Gotta catch the ferry to Seattle to meet up with some buddies. Don't geek out on me too much while I'm gone.

Later.
