What do you suggest for a raid controller?

Scenario

Linux box
SSD drives (16 in Raid 6)
Quad Nic Teamed

This will be hosting the VM's for my Hyper-V and ESXi servers so that I can setup cluster failovers etc. Size of the VM's will vary from 250GB to 2TB (Hyper-V Dynamic)

That is all the Linux box will be used for at this time although I may look at app hosting in the future as well.

So I am looking for a raid controller to with Sata 3 that can handle Raid 6. Low cost solutions if possible. Space for an expander if needed.

Thanks in advance.

If you are looking for hardware RAID6, get an Areca 1882i and add an HP expander for additional drives. It is not the cheapest HBA on the market but is one of the fastest, most supported cards out there. It also offers OOB management, which is GREAT if you have an OS problem.

Awesome thank you.

Is there a specific HP expander I need for the Sata 3?
