the liquid in my koolance is starting to turn brown so i was thinking about changing it this weekend. i know that koolance only recommends you to fill it with the stuff they provide but is it safe to fill it with distilled water?
if you use tap water you will corrode the blocks and such yes but distilled no chance... just add some Rad fluid to it .. or i use Distilled water 85 precent / Water Wetter 10 precent and Rubbing alcohol 5 precent (just to kill any bacteria growing inside)
You might want to find out why the fluid changed colors, have you added anything to it ?
The OEM Koolance fluid has been in mine for 1 1/2 yeadr and it looks the same as the day I installed the unit !
OK and bye the way, Water Wetter will void the Koolance waranty !
Yah, the fluid shouldn't change color. That's not a good sign.
Personally, I stick with the Koolance liquid. I've got a pack sitting here ready to put in sometime soon. (You are supposed to change it out every six months, IRC, and the level on mine is getting close to the low line.)
