My system:
Foxconn 6150

XFX XFX PV-T71F-YDP9 Geforce 7900GTX 512MB

G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB (2 x 1GB)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400

I am lost when it comes to this stuff.

First off can I flash this board with Winflash? I cant get the boot floppy to work right, prob cause all I have is a usb floppy.
Second I was told to "set fsb/ram ratio to 1:1 and lock pci 66/33" but I dont know how to do that.
Third I just want to do a basic small overclock, not looking to max out just give alittle boost.

Out of these what am I looking to change and to what?

Any help would be great, Thanks

For the easiest thing, first go download clockgen, and use it to bump up your fsb a little, say to 220MHz - that is probably safe. Then make sure it is stable by running prime95 or superpi. Watch your temperature and don't let it go above 55C or so. When you find a speed you are happy with, go into the bios and set the CPU frequency permenantly. There you go, only one setting to change.

WOW I just fucked up my pc, I tried that program and it froze up and now wont even start please what do I do to get it back? I can access the bios but thats it...

What does it say or do instead of booting? Did you change anything in the bios or just run clockgen? What did you set in clockgen?

And, have you tried unplugging it, waiting a minute, and then trying to boot?

i set clockgen to 220 fsb, it boots up like normal at first but then goes to the part where is gives me options for normal boot or safe mode or last known config but it cuts the keyboard off from use. It counts down from 20 and boots but just gives a black screen after that. I have to hit reset and it does the same thing. I tried restoring the bios defualts but that doesnt do anything either.

I changed nothing in the bios previously to clockgen, just tried the restore to defualt just in case.

Has the keyboard ever worked on that screen? There might be a switch in the bios to enable usb legacy keyboard support (or something like that)

yes it has worked, it just wont let me pick any options. I have to let the timer run down and I get the winxp boot screen then it goes black

when you say it wont let you pick any options, that means the keyboard isn't working, right? As in, if it was working, you could boot in safe mode.

ok got keyboard to work now and I can get into safe mode but now I dontk now what to do from here

First off, in your second picture you can see an option to change your CPU (HTT) frequency. You could start by setting your frequency here to 210mhz which would give you an OC of 5% on yur CPU speed. By changing the above frequency though, you will also be increasing the speed of your RAM by the same ammount. I will come back to this.

The third screen seems to be for your multiplier. You probably won't want to touch this until you know the top speed your RAM will run at.

The fourth screen is for your CPU voltages. Again, you probably won't want to touch this until you've pushed your CPU to its limit without increasing the voltage. Increasing voltage would allow you to push a little further.

The fifth screen, voltage for your memory. See fourth screen for info.

The sixth screen not sure.

The seventh screen gives you your RAM settings. The top option will probably give you the speed to run your RAM. It will probably be default at 200mhz (which would be your FSB/RAM Ratio of 1:1, ie: 200mhz CPU > 200mhz RAM). With the Overclock above as mentioned in screen 2, your RAM would now be running at 210mhz (it won't show this in your bios, but you can download CPU-Z and the memory speed will be listed in that). If you want to see how far your CPU will go, but don't want to OC your RAM past its rated setting, you need to set the ram to something like 166 in the option above for example, so that when you OC your CPU you wont be OC'ing your RAM past the 200mhz it's rated for.

Then, if you want to try for more, repeat but increase the values and you're nearly there.

Very brief I know, and I've probably missed a load of things out.... but look around the forum in the sticky's on OC'ing that cover it in much more depth.

PS. If you F*ck up your PC, we never had this conversation. Infact I am catagorically stating here that I would advise against overclocking any system with the exception of my own that I do so at my own risk ;)

Good luck dude.....

EDIT: Hell, thats alot of replies since I started typing, went for a beer, finished typing :(

Can you get into the BIOS and does the keyboard work in there?

You could try going to system restore and restore to the point prior to installing the above programme..

Start Menu
Help and Support
Undo Changes to your Computer Using System Restore

EDIT: I'm assuming clockgen is a programme, never used it....

I'm thinking clockgen is set to run automatically at boot now, maybe... I didn't know it had that option.

That shouldn't be possible for it to do that. The programme would load on boot up into Windows, not beforehand if I'm understanding what has happened correctly???

I'm not entirely sure what is happening

If it's booted into safe, then clockgen should not have loaded as Windows will only boot basic programmes. Should be able to system restore from here and problem solved...

no go...I system restored and still cant get into windows. I can only access safe mode which Im in now. I did open up CPU-Z and got this

the second core is only showing 1.0MHz wtf and no multiplier/FSB/Bus Speed/ and voltage for either core....Im lost

should I maybe reset the motherboard cmos?

Dude, something looks seriously wrong with that CPU-Z readout (unless there is a problem with CPU-Z reading the information incorrectly).

I would say remove your CMOS for 30 seconds and plug back in to try again.

I'm assuming you have already tried to reboot to last know good settings when the screen comes up with Safe Mode etc...

If it doesn't work and you have a spare HD, it may be worth trying a fresh install of Windows to make sure that it isn't your OS that has been corrupted (It's a long shot, but hey...)

ok Im back up...I had to system restore about 5 times and it just worked all though I have to reinstall alot of stuff now. Thanks for all your help. I dont think Ill be overclocking anytime soon :(

most likely your pci/pci-e bus was unlocked since you booted at 200mhz, when you changed it to 220mhz in windows, it freaked out and gave you crap.
try setting the htt/fsb to 201mhz in the bios and see what happens. worst comes to worse, you can always just clear the bios... only takes like 30 seconds and you're up and running again.

also, see sig ;)

Glad you're up and running again ;)

Really though, if OC'ing is something you want to do then you shouldn't let one bad experience put you off. You have everything you need in your BIOS to do your OC'ing that I mentioned in my first post, go back and have a look.

Also, I've just read Eclipse's guides as he suggested to you in his post, they're really good and go into OC'ing in depth (hell, the RAM OC guide is probably the best one I've read yet). As mentioned, if you change anything in the BIOS and it f*cks anything up, clear the BIOS and you're good to go.
