Do you ever wonder what the hell 16,000 people do at Google? Don’t look at me, I don’t know either! Thankfully C|Net’s NewsBlog is taking a few educated guesses as to what all those people do (lawyers maybe?).

The notable thing was the hiring. The company added 2,130 workers to its roster, bringing the head count to 15,916. What do nearly 16,000 people do at a company that doesn't make widgets (at least in the hardware manufacturing sense of the word)?

lets start a list :p

1. IT Manager
2. Sys Admins
3. Marketing and Advertising
4. Programmers
5. PR
6. HR
7. Owner
..
hmm.. 15993 more positions to fill

The rest of them read through, sort, and forward your e-mail onto the NSA.

I suggest you guys check out the GooglePlex if you haven't seen it already. :p

But it looks like the Google revolution is starting. Could this be the ramp up for the 700mhz spectrum internet project?

Hi,

I know my wedding and now family photographer's sister works for Google. I asked him what does she do. His response was basically I have no clue but she is paid very well for what she does for Google. He also stated she was a Computer Science major of some sort. Isn't pretty tough to get into Google if you do not have the right mindset for their company? I know they take a pretty intensive test in which many smart people don't pass for what ever reason.

I know more than a few people who work at or worked at Google.

What do 16000 people do at Google?
They have no frigging clue. Seriously. Half of them were hired for a "specific" position, like programmer for a project, or administrator for a service. Only one of them has ever seen their supposed manager more than twice. None of them have actually done more than a small amount of work they were supposedly hired to do. Most of them just play around on personal projects all day, occasionally poking something actually work-related here or there, and then go back to goofing off. It's the dot-bomb work ethic, all over again.
Ever wonder how Google has so many different things? It's because most of them were personal projects that somehow got pulled into corporate. Or some random idea that someone had, that got passed around, and built up enough momentum that folks just started doing it, with or without approval.

So, what do 16,000 people do at Google?
Pretty much whatever the hell they want.
