Hey,
I am new to this thread, I usually hang around the videocard section. But anyways, I have no more than $450 to spend and I am wondering what would be the best digital camera to buy for no more than $450.

I would suggest looking at the "What camera for $300" thread. The recommendations there were around $350; add in some accessories (extra batteries, charger, carrying case, tripod), and you'll be up to $450 in no time. If none of the cameras there appeal to you, come back here and give us some more information about what you'll be using it for, how experienced you are, and so on. That'll let us give you more useful suggestions.

Please narrow your question a little bit more by providing these details...others may want a little bit more than what I'm asking, but I'm trying to get a realistic stepping stone for the recomendations...

Which Sports? (Indoor / Outdoor / Night-time / Daytime & Specifics)
Intended Uses of Pictures? (Printing / Club Website / Photo Album / Portfolio)
Photography Expirence? (Newbie / Film P&S / Digital P&S / Film SLR)
Budget? ( Ex: Sub $800 / $800-$1000 / $1000-$1400 / $1400+)
Upgrade Path? (Do you see yourself investing more money into photography in the future if it can improve your results or allow you to be more creative? Would you be interested in an SLR system, and what do you plan on doing in photography?)

Canon A95
1GB Compact Flash Card (don't waste money on the high speed ones, not necessary!)
8x2300mAh AA NiMH Batteries and smart charger.

That should be ~$450 nicely.

I noticed some improvement while shooting with a high speed CF card on my a80 and coolpix 4500. It takes some of the lag off the camera. So if you can get a good deal on a 40x card, might as well go for it ... though CF card prices are falling old helium baloons ...
