I ordered this case: http://directron.com/sunbeamactb.html

Everything on that page tells me it is a Sunbeam case.

I get it and it is an MGE case. I call their helpline and the first bozo i talk too says "Sunbeam sometimes packages their cases in MGE boxes." I do a little reasearch and compare the actual case that I have to MGE cases online and I actually have an MGE AC-C. So i call them back and the guy gives me this bullshot about "it doesnt ACTUALLY say that it will be a sunbeam case... we get our cases from different manufacturers, and there is no way for us to know what case you will actually get... Nowhere on that page does it say you will be getting a Sunbeam or MGE or any other manufacturers case".

So am I the idiot for assuming that because everything on that page says it is a Sunbeam case?

Has anyone had any expirience in dealing with Directron?
 
Since the mfg link off of that page links to a sunbeam website, they are pretty much saying that eventhough it's rebadged as a Directron or w/e, they are stating that the manufacturer of the case is sunbeam... so if they sell you some other garbage, tell em where to stick it and get it exchanged. :cool:

Edit: This is the first paragraph off of that site "What’s new for the acrylic case? Clear and sweet looking? Surely yes! It completely shows off visually appealing inside components and cooling system. The common problem with acrylic cases is the fragility of its body as well as surface. This is not the case for Sunbeam products! Essentially, all you need are a set of gloves, a screwdriver, and some joyous time, then a splendid and awesome case will pop up."

So how is that "no saying it was actually a sunbeam case"?! :confused:

-edit it seems like they ment "case" as in "this is not the situation you might have with Sunbeam products".. i thought they were using "case" as in computer case..
 
The page does not say that it is a sunbeam case. However, if you click the link at the bottom for Sunbeam products it takes you to a page that links back to the page with the case you ordered. Print out/make a .pdf of those 2 pages in case they change them while resolving this.

Then decide what you want. Do you want to return the case? Get a store credit? Give them antoehr call and let them know about the issue. The call probably won't resolve anything but may give you more fodder. Record the call if you want - usually legal if one party knows it is being recorded.

If they don't resolve it to your satisfaction, call up your CC company and let them know they shipped an item that isn't what was advertised and they should help you fix the issue.
 
I want to NOT eat return shipping and the 15% restock. I have allready captured the page, in case it changes..
 
If you like the case - Get onto them about giving you a discount. If you don't like it - get on to them to give you a refund of all costs, including return shipping. Otherwise you can call your CC company and let them know you were defrauded. Usually quick resolution when CC company is involved.
 
never had a problem like this.. if i call the CC company will they contact the company i ordered from?

-edit I do NOT want the case (a bugger to take apart, the sunbeams ease of use is why i wanted it in the first place..) so thats not really an option.
 
new news: im on the phone with a Sales Manager from Directron who is trying to figure it all out....

I had posted on their forums after their customer support told me to crap in my hat, and I think thats what got this noticed cause he mentioned it "You should not have done that, you should have filled out a form" etc


-EDIT hes telling me Sunbeam buys from MGE? can anyone confirm this?
 
I am sufficiently surprised, almost to the point of retracting what i said about this company..

Just got off the phone with Lee@Directron and they are going to refund me and also cover the return shipping. He offered some sort of discount or a free PSU, but i really don't want this case so i m going with the refund.

The way he explained it was that Sunbeam sells some of their cases in the US through MGE. When they first got the shipment of Sunbeam/MGE cases, they listed them as Sunbeam. Then they relized what they had was NOT sunbeam, but MGE and they changed most of the website to reflect that. Except for certain verbiage and the pictures which were forgotten until today. So right now the case is unpurchasable, and the website is going to be changed tonight sometime. It was definatly my posting on their forums that instigated action :)

Hopefully alls well that ends well...

"not the case for"
use those 4 words with any other part of a sentence you can imagine and youll come to the same usage, its not "deceptive" or unclear, pretty plain English

exclusionary of a situtation

this and that circumstances or paramaters is not the case for them guys and that thing

you have to twist it into "not the case for" me\you\us\them as refering to a specific aforementioned "case"

the TX2000 "is not the case for" Sunbeam
means its the wrong choice for them, which in context doesnt make any sense
so there really is only one way to read that
 
if anything, write a letter to them or email and label it consumer complaint and usually they listen to what you ask about... my friend does that all the time with rebates he didnt get and once he sends a letter like that, they send a rebate check back to him asap

also mention about reporting to the BBB.. i think it stands for better business bureau and thats probably scary for those companies and they try to cooperate with you...

personally, i never tried any of these advice but they were heard from friends who has done this before

well if it all works out (ill know on monday) then I intend to withdraw my complaint with BBB (better business bureau) and there will be no need of further correspondance... The guy admitted that their web-admin did a hack job removing all mention of Sunbeam from the description and with that in mind it makes sense why it reads the way it does.
