This is happening on an elderly person's PC. I haven't had a chance to go over there but she says it just occurs. Never seen anything like it.

She's on a beelink mini pc running windows 10 pro and office 2024 if it matters

and it is occuring on text file that after a reboot work fine ?

If not, it could be file that contains non-latin scripts font the system is not able to render (arabic for example) or file created on MacOS on another computer with fancy fonts.

It just occurs... I know that type of troubleshoot description from the elderly ;)

Yes as others Have suggested I would have to assume your viewing that in .txt or .rtf form. Because most of the time those .exes for simple text files do not have ALOT of different Fonts.

Maybe Try MS word, open office or something else.
