What Component should I upgrade Next?

I bought my computer about 4 years ago now and have upgraded a few components on it since. The most demanding thing I use it for is gaming, I'm a particularly large fan of management style games which require a lot of units to be on the screen at once. Although my computer can still run most new games, it's starting to struggle with running newer ones on higher settings. Subsequently I'm looking for advice on where my weak links are and, based on my computer's specs, what I should look at upgrading next. The specs are:

Name: Gateway FX6860 EF10P
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 970
Ram: 16 GB, 4 memory slots
Motherboard: Intel H67 Express Chipset
Hard Drive: 2TB & 180 GB HDD
Power Supply: 750 W
CPU: Intel i7-2600, 3.40 GHz, Quad-Core
System Architecture: 64-bit
Operating System: Windows 10

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your video card is where I'd look, though your CPU isn't the overclockable variety of i7 that lasts nearly forever so it's in a similar spot. Both are mostly capable, but will encounter scenarios where they start to be sluggish. Replacing the GPU is a one-component upgrade, whereas replacing the CPU is a more all day type affair.

Use MSI Afterburner graph to see if you are GPU limited.
If so get a new GPU.
If not, its new mobo, cpu and ram time.

Your mobo isnt for overclocking, a K chip is no use.
Dont make that mistake with your next mobo if you want your system to have longer legs.
