What causes the throttling on the GT? Is it something controlled by drivers or some chip on the card? When or how does it determine that the clock needs to be throttled? I just got done playing UT2k4 for about an hour at 410/1100 just fine and it decided to throttle down the clock right before I quit. I know it's not too hot because I had Rivatuner open and the temperature was only 72C when it throttled.

Isn't there some way you can just diable the throttling and take your chances with artifacting? The autodetect gives me 430/1.11, and I've heard the autodetect is supposed to be a bit conservative. I can only seem to get it to run at 400/1.1 though.

No one has found the section in the driver yet that controls the clock throttling.

I can't remember if it is temp based or error detection based.

It certainly doesn't seem to be temp based from what I've seen.....setting the 2D/3D core clocks to the same speed cured a slight stutter in some of my games. As always, YMMV
