I might be in the market for a new case, not sure yet until I find something suitable. Problem is for me its hard to pick a case, unlike components, there is no way for you to know if the right case is for you till you try it. Its like buying a car or something.

Anyway, I'm particular about a few things, Im looking for full tower and I'm not crazy about cases with a load of fans everywhere because they are either noisy or attract alot of dust in. Just want enough fans to keep stuff cool inside but not overkill. Another thing is dust, of course that depends on the room but I read a case like HAF 912 gets alot of dust, not sure because I have little experience with cases that have front grills and what not.

I would like an aluminum case and for design should look "non-threatening" unlike the HAF X which looks like it houses a nuclear missile. But even though HAF X is not bad function wise, it sort of probably gets alot of dust and its plastic. So if Im looking for something out there that is as roomy as HAF x but doesnt have open vents everywhere and preferbly aluminum. Something like my current case here, I like its look very much but its not functional:

You sound perfect for a Lian Li :). I think all the full towers come with dust filters.
 
My budget is like HAF x price. so $200 is my max. The corsair cases look pretty sweet but their prices are high for some reason, but yeah something like that but cheaper would be good.

They do good stuff but they are over my budget. As of now I'm not doing a new build so I'm not too all keen on changing the case but I will have to because of a graphic card upgrade. Lian Li and Corsair are top notch, they got it right. I'll consider them though.

Their mid-towers are around $150, well within your budget.
 
lian li cases definitely

they're light on bullshit bling, high on function without looking fugly.

another alternative (budget allowing) are mountain mod cases. they use thick all aluminium construction in all their cases. some of their larger cube cases are fairly expensive, but they do have cheaper tower cases. best of all they are fully customisable. they even have a little flash mock-up build on their website that give you an excellent overview of personalised end product.

i haven't purchased one yet, though i will on my next build. if lian li did a decent cube case, i'd use them again. i think the one drawback of lian li is they don't accommodate water cooling properly (at lease not without some moderate modifications).

personally i'll never buy a case that doesn't use all aluminium construction and certainly nothing with plastic.
