What case for 240 Radiator

Ive searched everywhere and cant seem to find a case that requires little to no modification in order to accomidate a Black Ice gtx xtreme 240 radiator

the biggest problem is that it is a lil over 10 inches long thus fitment is a task

second problem is I have the Thermaltake W0106RU which is alot longer then most powersupplies so if both the rad and psu were located on the bottom which is probably the only way I could avoid hitting the video card with the rad...the case would have to be really long probably over 20-23 inches

I saw awhile ago a Lian-li with watercooling where the psu and rad were on the bottom and the only mod was that the whole for psu wiring was widened a lil

I think it was a 1200 or something...it had casters on the bottom and the bottom of the case had like perforated holes all in it ...he has the rad on spaces and the fans pulled air through the rad and out the bottom of the case while the front fan supplied cold air



anyway basically what case would be able to fit this radiator with no mods at all for the most part internally

Not sure if you ever heard of Weapon Cores and Shrouds ...

well I got this one custom made by Mike from BC, Canada. He's the main guy and was fortunate enough to deal with him directly.

We corresponded through emails throughout the whole ordeal up till the making of the mesh to make it all fit in nicely.

The core is the 2-302 Bonneville w/ ac .. Dimensions: 12 1/4H" x 5 1/2"W x 2"D. With the shroud the width becomes 6".

Id prefer to keep and work with my 100 dollar rad as Ive already spent the money but still that is very nice

w1retap that is an option but Id like to have the rad inside the caseand it seems that if it were inside at the top of that case it would hit my vid card or something with the fans on it

I notice the bottom of your case...would the pump...rad and the psu with down there or no

yea, I could have easily put the rad and pump down there, but I would have needed to put my hard drives somewhere else. Its all about careful planning. It took me like 2 weeks to figure out where I wanted everything. You also have to think about easy repairability if you need to remove components too. On the top of the case, you can put the rad on the inside, but you'll lose your top bay or two, and you probably wouldn't fit SLI.

What I would do is get a case such as the v1200 or v2000. (or something in that size range) The watercooling takes up much more space than you think. The v1000 I have isn't really big enough for my comfort. If I had to do it over again, I'd shoot for the v1200. Its a lot longer, and you could fit the rad internally much better. Its exactly the same as my v1000, but a few inches longer.
 
I believe that is what the guy used in the thread i addressed ...it is alot longer and seems to accomadate my longer psu...and if it doesnt I could just out it on top or something i guess

I was thinking about moving the harddrives up to the 5.25 bays anyway and using converters

are the harddrive mounts at the buttom detachable or do they have to be cut off

Sounds like a good idea to me. Yea, everything on the bottom can be unscrewed so it just looks like a big open space down there. The PSU bracket can be removed so you can fit as long of a PSU as you need, and the HDD cages are removable. 5.25 bay converters for hard drives would work great.
 
with the right measuring, you can pull off almost anything you want.
I wanted a 240 rad on the top of my case but I didn't want to lose a drive bay for that.

I researched various sites to get the exact lengths of each of the components (case, radiator DVD drive etc etc).

Measured 10x and cut once...
manged to pull off a 240 rad and DVD drive at the top of a Lian Li mini tower...

storm what tubing is that...i got stuck with 1/16 wall thickness tygon so when i get this new case I was looking into R-3603 which is 1/2 id 3/4 OD with 1/8 wall thickness

im a little worried that the tubing will put to much pressure on the video card and bending it outa the pci slot though on a tight bend...anyone used this tubing?
 
it's 7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer over 1/2" barbs...

i'll tell you now that trying to get that 7/16 over plastic 1/2" barbs was hell on earth...

otherwise, it's good tubing, had one bend that was an issue so i used a zip-tie.

but considering the close proximity of my blocks on that motherboard, i had no complaints...
 
Well I think i will get either that v1000 or the extended case...Id prefer the smaller one that you have cause my desk really only fits that size case

Im at college now and i cant remember or measure the length of my psu but that would be the determining factor as to whether the pump rad and psu can all fit down there

does anyone have the power supply i mention in the first post or know the dimensions of it i even called thermaltake but they said it was on the box....umm hello i dont have the box here

No, with my PSU, it would definetly fit down there. I just measured. It has about an inch to spare. The pump would have to go up on the next level though.

I think I know the Lian-Li with the setup on the bottom you are talking about.

the one i found was definately a 1000 cause there was not that much space height wise

but I think we found the case...the v2000b that you used

It seems as long as I reverse the backplate on the psu side and ahve the psu at the top of the bottom cage then I should be fine

My psu is about another 1/4 or maybe even double the size of most psus that was the biggest problem but it is a really nice psu

thanks for the help guys....ill probably order the case and the tubing in a few weeks

anyone know where i can get those little white spacers for the rad (and also the 5.25 drive converters as I probably will need them for my 2 HDs)...I had a hard enough time at the hardware store getting screws to actually fit the rad since the ones it came with were to short for my mounting purposes

Just take some motherboard standoffs to the hardware store and find some long skinny bolts that will thread in and mount through the fan and radiator assembly. Or, just start fresh and try to find all the nuts/bolts/screws there. For spacers starting from scratch, just use some very small diameter plastic/pvc tubing and sheath it over the bolts inbetween the bottom of the case and radiator. Spend lots of time looking around in the misc hardware aisle and plumbing aisles.
 
anyone know where i can fin the 2100 in black with a window kit...I can only fin the 2000 ...is that pretty much the same what is the difference

My boss up here at school in the IT department said he had a 2000 and it would ONLY fit a E-ATX board an not standard ones...is that true?
 
I dont like the front of the 2100 so I picked out a 2000 plus 2 in black'

does the power supply platform ont he bottom ahve to be cut off or can it be unscrewed
 
Pretty much everything on the case unscrews or unclips except for the mobo tray and main floor.
