My M - Audio is starting to show its age but has served its purpose really well for the past 2+ years...

Anyways...was thinking about upgrading...I currently have the Z5300 and HD555 for audio equipment...

Was thinking about the XFI Platinum....any other suggestions for cards in that range ?

TIA

M-Audio Revo. 7.1

Really ? Xfi aint worth the cash ? What would be a good replacement then ?

I would say X-Fi all the way in this case.

Assuming you play games, the headphone support is fantastic and it supports all the latest and greatest EAX's. Plus hardware acceleration is always nice.

It terms of music quality, it will be about the same as the m-audio perhaps slightly better; it certainly would not sound any worse with the equipment you are using. So don't let that first reply throw you off.

Overall I think you will be very happy with the investment you will make.

ok...so we're abck on the Creative track then :D

Is the Fatality worth the extra cash over the platinum ? and yes, i do game a lot....

I personally think no, but others disagree.

Basically right now only two games make use out of the Fatality, Quake 4 and BF2 (and that's only when using headphones, which of course it looks like you will). Will many new games adapt to using the x-ram? No one really knows. I don't have high hopes, although it could just be me.

Try to decide if losing the extra cash for x-ram is worth it to you. Perhaps you are a BF2-aholic and x-ram may suit your needs very well, or perhaps you'll end up wasting $100ish on a worthless feature. Your call.

hmmm...i do BF2...but not a lot...Actually more a vanilla BF player :) 1942, RTR, SW...and even Vietnam more so than BF2...

And i dont see myself entering any gaming tournaments soon anyways :p

So i guess ill just go with the Platinum...Ill prolly only be getting it in a couple of weeks time tho....so still got time to look around :)

Thanks for the info dude !
