I built it just this summer:

AMD Athlon Barton 2500+
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Corsair XMS 1024MB DDR PC-3200
Ati 9500pro
WD 80gig 7200

Everything is set at default speeds and I do not want to overclock. Is my machine still pretty good or does it need some upgrades? I was just noticing some things on it that run slower than they did when I first built it. What do you think?

^^ yes
and go get urself a 9800pro if u want to upgrade soemthing

i'd say there's not much in your system worth upgrading with pci-x, athlon64 939's and ati's r420 all set for this summer...but if money weren't a problem i'd get a 9800xt :p

all the cool kids are doing it

overclock, overclock!

make sure all of your drivers are up to date
you clean out temp files reguarly
defrag every so often
uninstall crap you do not use

That poor little 2500+ is probably mad at you for not overclocking him. As for upgrades, if you don't want to overclock anything get a faster processor that has the speed you want. If I had the money I would go with the AMD Barton 3000+. You could also upgrade your ram, I recently purchased some Mushkin dual channel memory which is awesome! so another upgrade idea for you is to get some Mushkin level II memory. But overall you don’t really need to upgrade anything but if you do, the first thing I would upgrade is your poor 2500+.

get a western digital raptor or other performance HDD's

SCSI if you have money
