Tommorow I'll be starting my first custom case, and some of the construction will be with plexi-glass. If possible, I would rather buy one large peice and cut it into desired sizes than have a hardware store cut it for me, but I was wondering how hard it is to cut plexi-glass.

I have a variety of tools available, and personally figured a sabre-saw would be the easiest to use assuming I can get a blade for it that won't make the plexi-glass splinter or feather.

Any hints or ideas? Any types of blades for sabre-saws that are ideal for this sort of work?

Or is there simply another tool I should be using, and if so, what is it?

Thanks,

Erik

pretty much anything that can cut wood or metal can work on plexi. table saw or a dremmel, a large sheet of plexi is not cheap though... may be better off paying to have a piece cut

just goto Lowe's or maybe HD (I wirk for lowes, so I'm not sure if HD will do it) and get scrap plexi/lucite.

I know at my Lowes we keep mis-cut plaexi and broken pieces for a few daysbefore they get tossed.
They sell real cheap.

I know (even though I work there) I got about $40 worth of plexi and lucite for about $15 because it was scrap pieces and mis-cut pieces.

Best place I have found aside from free to get plexi to test dif. cutting methods
