What can cause computer speakers to buzz?

Yesterday My speakers started buzzing when i was drag programs around my desktop and it happens when the hard drive was loading too. What can cause that?



I have my computer in pieces now.
 
EMI, or electromagnetic interference. This is caused by electrical activity, including the transfer of data over a PATA cable. Cables will act as antennae, amplifying the signal.

Ways to solve EMI:

- shielding of cables and/or sensitive equipment. Might be impractical or impossible.
- rearranging of cables in particular. This will reduce the effect, but not make it disappear.
 
PUt the soundcard in the PCI slot furthest from the AGP slot. This could help the problem. You might also try using a mouse hooked to the USB port rather than the PS/2 port.

Then get a soundcard. The Chaintech AV-710 is a good cheap one. It is capable of good 2 channel output. Also make sure the mouse cord is not running close to the audio cords.
