The Motorola SB5120 was replaced by the SB 5101, which is pretty much the standard cable modem 99% of users would recommend.

I've got a Linksys CM100. Works fine, heavy torrenting and other high traffic / high connection rate applications. No issues with it. Peak transfers over 1MB/s with a sufficiently fast server and enough of the pool available on my crappy Time Warner service.

+1 Motorola 5101

Try to find a cheap refurb.

Does Suddenlink not supply a modem ?

Motorola...they seem to have the least issues, be recommended by most by cable ISP techs, and they seem to always work with the special provisioning for "burst" packages like Comcast Powerboost.

The 5120 was my favorite model, seems to be disco'd...I believe the 6120 is the Doc 3 replacement.

That's correct. OP, if you're willing to spend the $80 so this would be a good option for future needs. The 5101 is only DOCSIS 2.0

While I don't care much for the 5120, TI seems to have a solid chipset in the 6120.

they will rent you one. I got a Motorola 5101 about 5 years ago, I paid $60 for and its starting to have problems. So Im looking to buy a new one.

thanx for the replies
