As the title states. You can describe why if you'd like or just list.

1. Firefox- I've used it since way back when I had a Pentium III. It was night and day. Price: Free

2. AVG- Best anti-virus program I've used to date and that includes 50$+ ones. Price: Free

3. Spyware Blaster- Sits in your background and protects against spyware. I love this program and you'll notice the first time you run your spyware scanner how well it works. Price: Free

4. Winrar- Can't live without it. Price: 29$ (Still on 40 day trial.)

5. Utorrent- Perfection. Price: Free
-------------------------------------------
I love freeware. :p

What are your guys favorite? I'm hoping to find to new apps that I haven't discovered yet.

Edit: Forgot my Winrar was a trial. I'm no Haxxor!!!11

because zero is the magic number

1.- Winamp, Price: Cheapo
2.- NOD32, very nice antivirus program. Price: Worth it
3.- ACDSee v9.0 Image Brower. Price: Not much
4.- Corel Draw X3. Price: Definitively Not Free
5.- Autodesk Inventor Suite: Price: A LOT!!

Going strictly by what I use the most..

1. Firefox
2. AVG
3. ImgBurn
4. Notepad++
5. 7-zip

1. NOD32.. worth every penny
2. CCleaner..and the price is right
3. PartedMagic..again, you can't beat free
4. ImgBurn.... see a pattern here?
5. Synergy.. can't live without it..and yeah, it's free too...

Of course there are others that are a bit more productive, but they are a bit more work related, and at this point in my life... well, work is no longer anything I associate with "favorite" sooo...

I smell a hackorz...Winrar is not free dude  http://www.rarlab.com/

My top 5 used how about (i have lots I like for different purposes)

0) IE7, but does it count cause it is builtin? Hrm I dunno.

1) Thunderbird - Cant live without it for email, best IMAP implementation of any client I have found (free that is)

2) Adobe Lightroom - Best Photo Editor IMO

3) Office 2007 - Great improvements on the old, and I love office

4) Macromedia Suite (Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash) - Best for my website stuff and I love photo editing in Fireworks (like PS for dummies :p )

5) O, Ok, Winrar. Works great and can do RAR and ZIP which is awesome.

Like I said, I have lots more that I like and use each for their own purpose.

Yeah WinRar is not free x.x

This is why I use 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)

My top 5 utils (all free/openware):

µTorrent for torrents (http://www.utorrent.com/)

avast! for anti-virus (http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html)

CCleaner keeps windows tidy (http://www.ccleaner.com/)

Xnews for newsnet (http://xnews.newsguy.com/)

Media Player Classic for all types of videos (http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/)

1) WinRAR (and yes, it was free - earlier this year they gave out free registration keys if you got in on the 1 day offer - that poster might have gotten it free just like I did.)

2) WinAMP (still the best for simplistic audio playback, and yes foobar2000 is great but, well, WinAMP just fuckin' works from the gitgo.)

3) mIRC (been on IRC nearly 18.5 years now, since before it was ever even publicly known, and mIRC is still my IRC app of choice.)

4) Newsbin Pro (for Usenet binary downloads, there is no substitute. Period.)

5) VirtualDub and EAC (ok, two here but, they are both free, they always have been, and they outperform and offer more features than software costing money, sometimes too much money.)

I could go on and on, but those are pretty much my top 5-ish apps that always get put on any machine almost immediately after a fresh install of whatever version of Windows I happen to be using.

5.1) NOD32 :)

Besides the standard Winamp/Avg/Firefox/7 Zip:
  1. Visual Studio 2005: Free via MSDN - Intellisense is godly
  2. Azureus: Free
  3. AIM: Free - I surprisingly dont mind the normal aim client as long as you properly ad hack it (thats not taboo to talk about right? Not like cracking software you otherwise pay for...)
  4. Steam - Never used before the Orange Box, but I've been quite impressed with it overall, especially its overlay in game
  5. Gmail/Gmail Notifier

Top 5 is a tuffy...

AnyDVD

DVDShrink

AVG Free

Opera - I now run it more than FF. :)

Ultramon

And yes winrar IS free.
Since the trial version never expires, it's free.

1. Firefox

2. Pidgin (oh I hate Live Messenger after I found out about this one, previously called Gaim)

3. NOD32 / Smart Security... Simply the best security there is.

4. Winamp... Been using this one for LOOONG... Can't even remember :D

5. Tough one here... I think I'll go with jv16 Powertools, really awesome tool.

1. Adobe Photoshop CS3 - the last time I had Photoshop was 6.x, and I love the improvements since then.

2. TextPad - It's what I use to program in java, C/C++ and also create web pages in html and php.

3. Trillian - One program for all my IM accounts can't be beat. I have Gaim on my Linux box, but I like Trillian a lot more. I'm looking forward to Astra.

4. Visual Studio Express 2005 - You can't beat free, and I like C#.

5. Microsoft Office 2003 - I've only used 07 once, and it's really nice, but I currently only own 2003. I might buy 2007 when I build my next machine.

I'll say the programs on this shitty laptop I'm using, because well it's old and I refuse to give up the programs I love because it is old.

#1. Firefox | It's had it's ups and downs but it's been good to me for the most part.
#2. NOD32 - Been using it since Late 2005, absolutely love it.
#3. Steam - I have a very low Steam ID (only 6 digits, and not over the 1/2 million mark) so I've been using it for a veery long time ;).
#4. Trillian - Been using it since 2002, love it and can't wait for Astra.
#5. Winamp - I skipped 3, love 5.

based on the frequency of use. i would say:

1. AVG Free
2. Opera
3. Media Player Classic
4. IDM
5. uTorrent

1) Firefox - Seems more secure than IE 6 and never tried IE 7. Love the extensions and skinability (if thats even a word).

2) Thunderbird - same thing, feels more secure than outlook express, and smaller footprint.

3) Pidgin, just recently found this, but used gaim in the past. Not a big IM guy, but it makes it easy to communicate with friends across multiple messenger clients/ protocols.

4)utorrent- SOO much better than azereus!

5)Tied between Mediamonkey and pokerstars.net in terms of how often i use.

0) Bonus- GIMP 2.4 - just getting into digital image creation/ manipulation, and gimp seems less complicated than photoshop, and of course, its free.
