What are the general causes for random system reboot in windows xp?

HEAT(cpu/heatsink not doing a good job, improper installion, inadequate PSU, bad/flaky memory

Is the system a new system or a old one that started to have this problem?

Its a system that I just replaced the motherboard for since it got alot of dust/dog hair in it and the motherboard fan died.

Make sure the mb is grounded, also make sure your memory is pushed into it's slots. Make sure your hsf is installed correctly........Since you have replaced your motherboard, do they have different chipsets, if they do I would recommend you run driver cleaner 3, then do a new install of your chipset drivers (nvidia, sis, via, etc), bad/different chipset drivers can/will cause your system to be unstable. I normally do a fresh install when I change mb's...
