Im sure everyone has ran into this issue but OMG MY 480 is sooooooooo hot!!!! it is heating the hell out of my room. I used to have it under water but god dang its heating the hell out of it. so i have three options...

Trade my 480+waterblock for a 580 with stock cooler and switch it to liquid cooling in a bit.
Put 480 under water plan to sli them
Or buy a portable air conditioner for my room? I dont know much about them so need help with that...

What do you guys do for heat like this? I knew they were hot but god!!!! its stupid... i even have a fan on my vent sucking the ac into my room and its soo hot still. Plus my temps suck too...

any tips?

The 580 emits almost the same amount of heat as a 480. You still have to deal with 300watts or so per card regardless of cooling solution.

Buy a portable AC unit. I have one in my window to deal with my 480 tri-sli. Also, if you are setup for water, 480's are dirt cheap for the performance you get, even if they are power hogs. I've seen many 480's with waterblock sold on here for $250. Compared to a 580 for $400 + waterblock for $100, its a no brainer. Is double the price worth it for 15% performance?
 
Ok I'll stick with my 480s then lol it can't be a window ac unit though.

What about the one I linked? I like it no draining is needed so lol
 
You'll have to ask someone else mate, never actually used that kind before. My window unit does okay for a Pennsylvania summer, but I used to live in Sydney so I know how hot it can get down under.
 
It was 95 yesterday and with it being upstairs man it gets hot! With everything running.
 
I was sweating in my room last winter when gaming, as I took the AC unit out of the window. So I replaced it with a little screen the window shuts on. I always wondered what my neighbors thought about the screen in my window with snow on the ground.
 
Lol nice man, my rents won't let me put a ac unit in so idk what to do
