I purchased a modmic 4.0 and ad700x headphones. I knew there was a chance my motherboard wouldn't be able to handle the mic properly (realtek alc892 ).

I'm actually happy with the headphone loudness from the on board sound, but mic input is very low and background hiss is bad with gain up.

What amp can I use for the mic ? No internal devices, no room with core p5.

I'm open to external soundcards if they can provide what is needed.
