ewww... hehe sorry but cooler master PSU's don't cut it in my book. hehe. umm... i say go with the thermaltake 430 tr2. newegg has it for $40 with a $15 mail in rebate. it runs well in one of the comps i built, and i trust the name a little more. although almost any fsp or sparkle psu's will do just fine. other trusty name brands are enermax, seasonic, pc power & cooling, and antec has been goin down, but yah... a psu is as important as a cpu or mobo so it's price should almost equal one of the mobos or cpus, it feeds the whole computer so please don't skimp on it, i've had 2 experiences where a cheap psu knocked out parts when they blew. one was a powmax, the other was a codegen that came with my case, the codegen took my mobo, cpu, vidcard all at once, and chewed away at my hdd til it started clicking and scratching.

i bought an epsilon fx600 for my setup for $118, but just saw monarch.com selling 600watt ocz powerstreams for $148 with $40 mir. those are a little steap for you i know, but heck if you want a good priced psu, i'll hook you up with my mge 400. bwahaha. ;p it's on sale in the for sale and trade forum. but yah, newegg reviews are fairly good to go by, but look for review sites with better test equipment and such. the negative effects of a psu are often not noticed until much later on in use, as they don't just blow up with sparks flying, they can eat away at your components with fluctuating currents.

edit: if youre worried about amps and watts and such, fsp and sparkle tend to underrate themselves rather than many of the other hounds out there that overrate or straight up lie about their power ratings.

Seriously. Take a look. You're trying to power an Athlon64, a 7600 GT, and a Gig of ram with A $18 Power supply. Are you out of your fucking mind?

Spend a decent amount of money and you'll get quality. That being said, I'd trust the CM over the Thermatake. The TT has 18a, the CM has 19.

Sytrin Nextherm. $70. 460w, dual rail.

yah... amp difference eh. but yep yep spend more money! bwahaha. help the ailing economy! and you'll have a longer lasting, much more stable system. the 450 modstreams are fairly good and run about $60 after rebate.

That CM isn't that bad

You would have thought someone asked about a Powmax.

And cool it with the asking people if they are our of their f mind....ok?

yah ok, i made my opinion ignorantly without lookin up the psu like i usually do. hehe. i've heard a lot of good things about the tr2, plus i've used one before, but yes i guess the coolermaster passes on tr2 levels also, perhaps even better. they need to review the tr2 somewhere. it's good enough for $20 but once again hehe i'm gonna be a record player and say that you spend $20 more for an fsp. :p

Like you USUALLY do? Is that what you did in this thread? http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1055528

It's best to make suggestions based on personal experience or an educated understanding of the components and construction of a particular unit based on documented accounts of that product.

If you have something negative to say about a product, back it up or you're just going to get ignored.... or flamed.

holy moly check this out! coolermaster 600watts for $40 after mir. yarrgghh... haha i dont think it's what your lookin for but it caught my eye. coolermaster extremepower

The CM eXtremePower 600 is a nice 500W PSU but a not so nice 600W PSU. It's badly over-rated wattage wise.
