Hi,

I need a new (my first) tft-Display, but I'm stuck with my decision. I need it for:

- 50% internet/surfing
- 35% dvd/tv
- 15% gaming

First I wanted to get a 226BW, but then I heard too many bad things about TN-panels + it doesn't seem to be that good for dvd/tv use. So which one should I get? Budget is around 300-450 €.

Here's what I've found so far:

- Asus PW201
- HP LP2065
- NEC 20WGX²pro
- Dell 2007WFP
- ViewSonic VX2025wm / VX2235wm
- Samsung 205BW / 226BW

ciao

This one now is $329 at Circuit City. What you get for this price is more than you expect. However, it's a glossy monitor and not everyone likes glossy. This can be overcome by judicious placement of lighting. I managed to totally eliminate glare and be flored by its clarity, colors and response time. Go to the threads that talk about this monitor. There's also a 10% Circuit City coupon that you can find on eBay which can be stacked on top of the $329.

Good luck.

Last month I purchased a NEC LCD2070NX on sale at Amazon for $250.  It rocks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Unfortunitly the sale is over and the price is back to $400. :(

theres a new sceptre, 22.95" (23"), which makes me think that its a different panel than the other 22" screens. SCEPTRE X23WG-1080P . its available at newegg for around $250 ar, but i cant find anything about it except at sceptre site. has unusual spex, is true widescreen (16-9), native res is 1366x768, max res is 1440x900, is advertised as 1080p, built in speakers, 1000to1 contrast and 500cd/m2 brightness. only been up at newegg for a day or 2. from the price, i would have to think its a tft panel.

I think..think mind you..that anything over 20" is a TN panel. I know all 22" are TN.

Why not get the X20WC? It has 1080p/i

I would go for the w2207 its a great monitor.
Also any monitor that is under a res of 1920*1080 is NOT 1080p
so that means no current 20-22" is 1080p

Samsung 226bw (if you like matte)
HP w2207 (if you don't mind the glare)

Also check out the Viewsonic vx2055wmb or vx2255wmb if you want a monitor loaded with features: webcam, speakers, mic, height adjustable stand.

All of the monitors mentioned above have a contrast ratio of 1000:1 & look gorgeous.

The NEC 20W(M)GX2 is, arguably, the best 20" LCD out at the moment; or at least one of the top few in the mainstream market.
