This is the best deal I've seen on this since Costco's back in June. BUT, this has free shipping, making it even better. $799 after $80 MIR, and free shipping. And it's from NEWEGG.

Linkage

$80 MIR

This is the SE version, btw.

Actually Costco's best deal was the 47" LVM-47w1 they had for $999 + shipping/tax in November. But yeah, $799 is pretty good. I'm just scared to buy a TV from an online only company (Costco has local stores at least) because if you have problems you have no where to return it, and shipping that bastard back is EXPENSIVE.

The deal I refer to was this exact monitor for $799 + shipping back in May/June. I missed the 47" deal, but unless you cheat Bestbuy with the HDA trick over at slickdeals, then I think this is the best bang for the buck deal right now.

I would use caution. I ordered my Westy through Newegg and it died in three days. After two days of phone calls talking my way up the chain they accepted an RMA from me. I basically told them that they should not be selling something that they won't put a basic warranty on.

Newegg's policy on Bulk Items is once you accept the package that's it. Everything else falls on the manufacturer, that is common for online stores, but a good rule of thumb is not to buy something like that through an online store.

whats the HDA trick?

They had a 37" Westy deal also. I still use it today. I got it for right under $900 shipped.

one of my friends ended up getting his 61" awfully cheap due to having a buddy that worked at bb, I wonder if this is how he did it

I came SO close to getting one of these when I got my tax refund. But, once I had the money, I started thinking about if I had problems, I'd have to ship it somewhere. I ended up getting the JVC LT37X688 from BrandsMart USA (was planning on getting it from Costco, but 2 days before the refund posted to my account, they went out of stock). I just feel a little better having a physical place that I can take it to and all that.

Anyway, nice price on that TV. I paid ~$962 for my JVC (no shipping, but tax/gas/time).

I actually bought my 37" Olevia LCD Monitor from Newegg last year. I had no issues, and it works great.

very. in the massive westy 37" thread someone posted pics of them bringing their 47"er to a LAN party... they even put some porno on it. lol

This is a great deal on an AWESOME monitor. If you can understand that it has a horrendous de-interlacer, then you will enjoy it a lot. Everytime I sit down in front of my computer, it brings a smile to my face.

Damn I would really love one of these... but I'm too pussy to spend $800 on a discontinued TV.

Might just bite the bullet on the 42" when the price drops down more and more.

May try to do the HDA trick, but more than likely my conscience will eat at me and I'll pussy out.

Bad Karma.

I will try that HDA trick if I can get about another $800.

I will get me a new 1080p, I sold mine awhile back. And I miss that baby everyday,

would it be poor etiquette to bring this to a LAN party? :D
not at all :D

now a 47 inch, would be, ive seen pics of someone that did that :D

i really enjoy my 37w3se westy, even though i thought it was dead in box due to the way ups destroyed the shipping box

Well not if its one of our lans. Here is a pic from last year. 4 Guys had the 42 and 1 had the 37 at this lan.

I can't imagine being that close to it.. we use ours as our main tv and its great, sitting back about 8 or so feet.

wouldnt it hurt your eyes to use it at that distance?

Surprisingly, it feels fantastic. The pixel pitch, being higher than other 1680x1050 or 1900x1200 monitors, is just right and 1920x1080 is PERFECT for a monitor IMO. I had one for about a week back in June and it was orgasmic. I can only imagine what a 42" or 47" feels like.

Here's a link to the mammoth thread concerning this montor:

The 42 is pretty sweet! However I feel the 37" is about as big as I'd like to go in the PC room.

if anything larger displays reduce eye strain since you don't have to work your eyes as hard to focus on tiny text. love mine.

It's not bad etiquette unless space is very tight. Put the cases on the floor instead of the desk/table tops.

Bringing a 37" to a LAN is awesome, and makes most people drool.

As long as you don't have your face 1 foot from the display, it's fine. I sit only 2.5 to 3 feet from my westy 37" and LOVE it, easier to read than my old 24" and at 1920x1080 on a 37", text is still crisp and big enough to read comfortably.

I hope I'm not the only one that reads this and is disgusted.

I do not share your sentiments there. Kudos to those who pulled it off! I toyed with giving it a go myself, but don't have anywhere to put a third HDTV regardless of how much of a 'steal' it is.

I started getting headaches when it was on my computer desk. My solution was to put a tall table behind my computer desk to add another 2 feet. I sit around 5 feet from the monitor now and that stopped my headaches.

I can't seem to find reviews for this monitor. This is not the 37w3, but another slightly different model. I'm tempted to bite on this but trying to find reviews.

Ive got this monitor, and I sit about two or three feet from it on a little tiny computer desk. This thing is easily the best computer related purchase I have ever made. I cant stand using a normal computer monitor now.

37W3 "SE" special edition or something....it's good. I love mine. Worth taking the chance to order form the egg, I figured if there was a problem I could nicely bully my way to an RGA since I spend about 5 grand or more a year with them for the last 7 years...;)

Or maybe its good karma, it does work both ways you know. You have been getting ripped off for years and years and finally a deal appears in front of you, think of it as a gift from karma :D.

The SE has different inputs or something. Still 1080p which is what matters. If you plan on using it with a console you might have to do some more research.
