Hello. I have a question with an issue I am having hooking up my laptop to my TV.

When I hook up my HDMI from my computer (HP i3 based laptop) to my TV it detects the resolution and recommends 1366 x 768. When the LCD TV refreshes the resolution from the computer the image just isnt right. The screen on the left side is lost. From the left of the start menu.

I tried several resolutions and none of them look right on the screen........ all lower resolutions look like shit on this TV. I don't know what else I can do to configure the laptop settings to fit the tv correctly.

My Zune HD outputs perfect in 720 to my tv. The image fills up the entire screen with no issues.

First time laptop to tv noob user....... please help and thanks!

Ok then let me ask you this Evil.

How do I get the TV to accept the signal from my laptop at 1366 x 768?
That is supposedly the max resolution of my tv. Is it not possible for my laptop to run it correctly?

In my display properties a whole bunch of resolutions pop up in the drop down menu for the 2nd display (the tv).... of which the computer detects the 1366 x 768 resolution of my tv..... however when I apply that resolution........ the image is not centered on the TV. It appears correct on the right........ but from the start menu area and to the right is off of the screen.

Panel
Screen Size 32"
Maximum Resolution 1366 x 768
Aspect Ratio 16:9
Viewing Angle 176°(H) / 176°(V)
Display Colors 16.7 Million
Brightness 400 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio 1000:1
Response Time 8ms

Check the Overscan setting.

I had the same problem with the 1080p Westy I have, and once I found the Overscan setting I noticed that it was not at a 100% by default.

Good luck.

Try Speedy's advice first and be patient.

If his advice doesn't work then there's a few other things you could try such as a 59hz refresh rate, OR use powerstrip to create a custom resolution, specifically 1360 x 768, which is what i had to do to fix the problem you're having on a secondary TV i own.

Does your laptop and TV have VGA? If so then you can also try that, you may have to create a custom resolution for VGA as well.

720p is 1280x720.
Good luck finding a so-called 720P TV that has a native 1280x720 pixel count ;)

The good thing about 1366x768 is that it has more pixels for PC use than 1280x720 (obvious but true).

While technically true, almost all "720p" sets have a native resolution of 1366x768.

This. My monitor, for example always defaults to a 59Hz refresh, even if I set it to 60Hz manually. I've also found that setting overscan to 0 and 59Hz refresh works well for near-pixel perfect images. You'll never get it perfect, though, and the artifacts on text drive me nuts, hence, no HDTV for a monitor.

Sweet...... thank you for all the advice everyone!

Gonna give everything a shot soon as I get home. Peace
