One of our newest folders. He made his way over to the Mirc channel and we chatted for quite awhile. Welcome!!

Ahender lives in Alaska and he says that it is freezing up there right now. I told him not to worry that once the folding bug bites him, he'll have hisself a whole farm in no time and then he'll be investing in air conditioning.

You get used to it ;) My brother has 2 athlons in his room, the window is always open a crack... I'm in the basement so it doesn't heat up down here, considered that?

No crap. :D
We keep getting cold fronts down here (50F-60F), so I open the office windows and close the door. All 4 computers drop at least 10C with the temps, especially my main rig with the passive setup. But damn, even with door closed, we use an extra blanket at night, and waking up in the morning is REALLY waking up.

We lost heat at my place a while ago. Didn't bother getting it fixed since it was looking to be warming for spring. Then the temps tanked again this week.....so just cranked up the clocks on the boxes and flipped them backwards so they exhaust towards the middle of the room. My friends call it the ghetto heater.

Hey it's more efficient than gas heat (cheaper too), just tell 'em you're doing your part for the environment, all while trying to help cure disease! :D

better avoid angering the cops, then...

i prefer cold weather, personally. crack open the window, and then i don't cook myself. my room will hit >100F (estimate, never checked. it gets really damn hot, whatever temp that is) during the summer, even when its "only" 80F outside. i'm considering buying a window AC unit (we have central heating/cooling) for my room. it'd run a bit in the winter, and a lot in the summer. i'd just need a much larger power circuit first. i can trip the circuit by turning on a vacuum cleaner. i'd imagine that another monitor (i want to go dual monitor again on my main box) would do it, too. fun stuff:p

Well. So far i have only 3 computers up and running
(my X still has one at that place, i doubt she is running f@h on it, although
her work lappy is still borged (serviced it)). and i have ~4 wall sockets so 8 plugs
i can use.. about to get a buncha surplus stuff maybe ~10 p3 sub 1ghz for my
farm.. thankfully i have apt controll heating/ac so, and utils paid. :D

as long as they arent up here every day resetting the breakers when the fridge kicks
on...
