weird windows media problem (skipping)

Ok I just installed a new sound card and now windows media tends to skip parts of songs and movies. its not like the signal isn't getting through either. it skips like 5 second of a file without any interuption. I tryed downloading a newer version but it has the same problem.
any idea whats wrong:confused:
 
try a new soundcard driver? Make sure irq's are cozy? play with wm player settings?
 
Which sound card did you put in your unit?

First thing I would do after updating drivers is, disable any game ports in the sound, section in device manager.

I've had issues like this in the past and sometimes the best way to solve it is to reformat.
 
its a sound blaster 16 pci 4.1
updating drivers didn't work so im going to try disabling the game port
