I've been using this processor and heat sink along with an 80mm Antec fan for a while with pleasing results, but a few months ago I RMA'd my motherboard so naturally i had to remove the heatsink. Before the change my load temps never went over 50C. Most of the time it was in the mid 40's, but now its gotten pretty strange. The idle temp is usuallyl 33C, sometimes going as low as 28C, but running Winamp or watching a DivX video brings the temp up to 50C pretty quickly. Playing games it will go as high as 60C. I've tried different thermal compounds (i'm using cermaique now) and i've reseated the heatsink a whole bunch of times trying to fix this problem. What could be causing this wacky increase in temperature?

My system temps are pretty similar to yours. When i play games it usually goes to about 50-55c. 60 is a little high, but nothing to be worried about. How is your case cooling. My idle is 32c usually.

my case cooling is pretty good. 2 80mm intakes and 2 80mm exhaust fans. Wires are pretty clean too. I should mention that my temps from before were with the 2500+ at 12x200, and now its at 11x185. if i set it to 12x200, it idles around 50 and at load it'll go up into the 70's

Update your BIOS - You are most likely getting the same temps but the new motherboard is reading it wrong

Sometimes different version's of a BIOS will read different temps (the newer ones are usually more accurate because of temp probe updates and such...)

I would get the newest BIOS update for your motherboard and try to get your hands on a temp. probe for a second source for a reading
